Md. Samil Farouqui
Samil is an experienced Big Data Engineer specializing in cloud-based data solutions, real-time analytics, and secure data handling. With expertise in AWS, Azure, Databricks, Spark, and Terraform, he has played a key role in migrating data to Fabric Lakehouse, implementing real-time analytics, and optimizing cloud-based ETL pipelines.
Currently at Westpac New Zealand, Samil leads data migration from on-prem to cloud lakehouse, encryption strategies, and DevOps automation. In his previous roles, he has architected modern data platforms, optimized BI reporting costs, and enhanced data governance. He holds a master’s degree in information technology from The University of Auckland with a focus on Data and AI.
Beyond work, Samil is passionate about technology and data-driven decision-making. He enjoys, making content for social media, playing FIFA, Table Tennis and HAM radio operations.
